Pong Pong

Pong Pong

Ah Bit, my angora mix rabbit of 12 years, passed away on 7 Feb 2014. I cried myself all the way home from work after receiving the news, called the cremation service immediately, and they collected him within two hours of the call. I only started accepting his death when I received the urn with his ashes the next day. I thought I’d be ok, I still had Melon, my pudding hamster. To my horror, he passed away a couple of days later.

I went from having pets the past decade, to no pets in a week. I was devastated. Han asked if I would get another rabbit. I couldn’t. I broke down every time I looked at a photo gallery of rabbits. So I asked if I could have a puppy instead.

When I was in my early twenties, I discovered “teddy poodles”. Red toy poodles with teddy bear cuts from Taiwan. I was really obsessed with them, and researched extensively on where I could get one, how much it would cost, etc. I had even decided on the name – Buru – after Buru the Gorger, a boss in the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj in the World of Warcraft. My best friend’s dad knew me as the girl who loved dogs, but never had one.

We already had Oreo (my brother’s Miniature Schnauzer); I was not allowed to have Buru. Plus, I already had Ah Bit at that time. But my obsession lived on, I kept a red toy poodle named Buru in my NDSL, bought a little red toy poodle plush and named it Buru, and later kept another red toy poodle in my 3DS, AND named it Buru. Everybody in my close group of friends knew that I had always wanted to have a toy poodle as a pet for 1/3 of my life.

Today, my lifetime wish was granted, by my in-laws and Han. We bought Pong Pong (Fluffy in hokkien) from a home breeder today, and he’s coming home with me this Friday.

Hey baby, I hope we will give you a long and healthy life for the next decade.

Resorts World Sentosa

Having a staycation at RWS was on my to-do list and I checked it off with Han. We bought the Voyage de la Vie 2D1N Theatrical Experience package, which comes with 2 tickets to the performance, so we bought our tickets to USS separately. I enjoyed the performance very very much. Was utterly fascinated by the body contortionist boy, and also pleasantly surprised to see my school mate Jonathan Leong as one of the main characters in the show. I particularly liked the pair of magicians and Sparkles the rabbit! As well as the two babes strutting around in different costumes. 😀

A lot of people who know me prolly knows that I didn’t have much of a childhood, was a latch key kid from primary school onwards, and was pretty independent by the time I was in secondary school (Disclaimer: There are no adverse effects to being a latch key kid, I love my family very much), and pretty much worked every school holiday I had. So, anyway, I really really loved USS! I liked taking pics with the mascots, going on the rides, seeing all the quirky buildings and buying myself a potion of cranberry juice (like HP pot, you know?!). I’ve never met anyone who indulged in my childishness so much. I love my baobao. 🙂

Brother Sister iPod Nanos and FMJs

Ah Bit stopped eating his usual Oxbow pellets one day and lost a lot of weight. A check with the vet showed that there’s nothing wrong with him physically, so it’s most prob selective feeding. Had to feed him some pellet slush and probiotics before I bought the vet-recommended brand of pellets. I’m currently feeding him Burgess Excel Rabbit Mature Cranberry & Ginseng, which claims to prevent selective feeding, also it’s catered to rabbits that are older than 5 years (Plus! It has Ginseng inside! Stupid Ah Bit is so pampered la).

When we change rabbit feed, we’re supposed to change it gradually so as not to upset the rabbit’s digestive system as well as to prevent the rabbit from refusing the new feed. In this instance, I couldn’t do a gradual switch cos Ah Bit has stopped eating his Oxbow pellets. Ah Bit is usually picky about his pellets, but he ate these the moment I put them in his bowl. 🙂

Friday night out with my Universe. Nu and I bought dinner at Sushi Tei for our double celebration, and we watched Ip Man after. I found it too cruel and a little forced. I much preferred the prequel.

My brother and I now have brother sister iPod Nanos and FMJs (mine in chrome, his in black). He’s trying to psycho me to get one of the Tis, but I know that I’ll never get one of those. I’m too lazy to bring headphones around, though I really like the pair he has.

Also, Hanny sprang a surprise visit before his Mother’s day dinner with his family today. He caught me in extremely ratty PJs, but still… <3 <3 <3
